Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what information Taqwa+ processes when you use our mobile application and related backend services, and the choices available to you.

1. Overview

Taqwa+ (“we”, “us”) provides Islamic tools including Quran reading and recitation audio, prayer times and Qibla, Hadith and Duas, and a lecture/library catalog. You may use many features without creating an account. An optional account lets you sync certain progress across devices.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use advertising trackers or third-party advertising SDKs in the Taqwa+ mobile app as described in this policy.

Synced Quran records store references only; they do not store the Arabic text or translations themselves (those are provided from the app’s bundled datasets).

2.3 Prayer, location, and device settings

Location is used for prayer and Qibla features. You can deny location permission and use a city/location picker instead where the app provides that option.

2.4 Local device data and offline content

The app stores data on your device that may include downloads, local Quran bookmarks and settings, prayer settings, Hadith/Dua favorites kept locally, theme/language preferences, and authentication tokens in secure on-device storage when you are signed in. Bundled Quran text, Hadith packs, Duas, and other Islamic content may also be available offline on your device.

2.5 Media playback and content delivery

When you play Quran audio or library audio/video, our systems process the requests needed to deliver media (for example content identifiers and temporary signed download URLs for hosted media). Playback itself may also use on-device audio/video capabilities, including background playback where enabled by the operating system.

2.6 Donations

If you make a voluntary donation through supported payment flows, we may process donation amount, currency, status, and provider references. Where you provide a donor name or email for the donation, that information may be retained with the donation record for financial and support purposes.

2.7 Technical and security data

Our API may process technical request data such as IP address, user agent, and timestamps as part of normal server operation, rate limiting, and security (for example refresh-token session metadata). Product analytics events, when collected by the backend, may include limited event names and related metadata and can be associated with an account when you are signed in, or stored without a user link for anonymous use where applicable.

4. Local device data and cloud sync

Bundled religious texts (such as Quran chapters, Hadith packs, and Duas) ship with the app for offline use. Signing in is optional. Local-only data remains on your device unless you use features that upload or sync to your account.

Server and cloud systems store account credentials and session data, synced progress when you are signed in, and catalog/media delivery information needed to operate Taqwa+. If the app cannot reach our servers, local features that do not require the network continue to work; cloud catalog, streaming, and sync features may be unavailable until connectivity returns.

5. Authentication and security

Access and refresh tokens are used to keep you signed in. Refresh tokens are stored as hashes on our servers and can be revoked. Passwords are stored only as secure hashes. Social sign-in uses identity tokens verified by our backend with Apple or Google.

We intentionally do not automatically link accounts that use the same email across different sign-in methods. If an email is already registered under one method, signing in with another method may require you to use the original method.

Depending on features you use, Taqwa+ may rely on:

7. Retention and account deletion

We retain account and synced data while your account remains active and as needed to operate the service. You can delete your Taqwa+ account through the app where that feature is supported (for example from Profile when signed in), or request deletion by contacting us at support@taqwaapp.com.co. Account deletion is subject to necessary legal, security, and financial retention requirements described below.

Taqwa+ is a general audience Islamic education and practice app. It is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country). If you believe we have collected personal information from a child in a manner not permitted by law, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal information, or to object to certain processing. You can delete your Taqwa+ account in the app where supported, or contact us for other privacy requests:

We may need to verify your request before fulfilling it. Some information may be retained where required by law or for legitimate security and financial records.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The effective date above will be revised when changes are published. Continued use of Taqwa+ after an update means you acknowledge the revised policy. Material changes may also be highlighted in the app or on this site when appropriate.
